Hello everyone! Welcome to my first ever journal entry in my Daily Halie series. These will be personal blog posts as they will share the activities I have done throughout a certain day. I hope you all enjoy!
Today is Friday, March 9th, 2018. One of the final days of my spring break before heading back to Winona State University for the final seven weeks of my final semester. I woke up today to have a wonderful breakfast featuring peaches and cream yogurt, a banana, and a inside out carrot cake cookie all from Trader Joes. Later on in the day, when my boyfriend Chris came over, we decided to relax for a little bit to play some Animal Crossing New Leaf. It is a cute little game where you are a mayor among a town of animal villagers and you help the town grow into any town you can dream of. Currently I am making my town into something I find cute and enjoyable, but I would love to get another copy down the road and make a forest theme, pink theme or fall/halloween theme town. The possibilities of themes to create are endless.

Once we finished up with Animal Crossing, Chris and I made our way to Blick Art Materials. I have been planning on getting some more Copic markers to bring back with me to college. I had already made a wish list of the markers I had wanted to add to my current sets of markers and to add new sets to my already existing collection. The colors I ended up picking out were BV25 Grayish Violet, RV95 Baby Blossoms, R02 Rose Salmon, YR61 Spring Orange, G20 Wax White, G28 Ocean Green, BG13 Mint Green, BG72 Ice Ocean, B00 Frost Blue, E04 Lipstick Natural, E41 Pearl White and E42 Sand White. Blick has this special deal if you buy 12 or more markers, the markers are $5.24 versus being $7.99 each. I could easily blow a whole paycheck at Blick, but alas, I did not. So I say that is a success for today.
Once I got home, Chris and I pondered a bit to decide what to do next with our day. We decided to see if the one and only Cup & Cone was open as it is only open seasonally and it was. Since it was still around 30-40℉ here in Minnesota, we decided to drive there. Chris ended up getting the premium flavor of the day, Dole Pineapple, and I got the plain flavor of the day, Raspberry.

Upon getting back to my house with our ice cream, we began watching some Animal Crossing Town Tours on YouTube to get some ideas for our own towns. After we had finished our delicious ice cream, we hopped on the Nintendo Switch to try Overcooked. Overcooked is a stressful, quick paced, busy and challenging game. If you have ever played Diner Dash before, then it is similar to that. However, you can play with one to four players. You have to run back and forth grabbing ingredients, chopping ingredients, cooking them and then serving the dish out to the customer before their order time runs out. There are obstacles that block you from achieving these goals as well, which is the part that makes it stressful.

I had started working on my Copic marker D.I.Y. case once we had enough of playing
Overcooked. I had to pry off the back of the second soda crate I had gotten from Michaels. It took quite some time as the staples held the back in pretty securely. Once the back was pried off, I ripped out the rest of the staples and hammered the rest that would not come out all the way. Then, I went to paint the other part of the crate white and left the piece to dry before Chris and I glued it to the other crate with wood glue. I'm planning to finish the entire project tomorrow. The only thing left to do after the wood glue dries over night is to put the inserts back in. I'm excited to finally have a place to horizontally store all my Copic markers and any future markers I should get.

Finally, the last thing Chris and I did that night was partake in the Splatfest that Splatoon was having for the weekend. It started at 10 p.m. CST and it ends tomorrow (Saturday, March 10th) at 10 p.m. CST. These Splatfests occur once a month and they have a different theme each time. This time it was "What came first? The chicken or the egg?" From there you can choose which team you are on. I picked the egg team as I believe the egg came first. Then through the 24 hours, you can grow your Egg Power to the following levels: Fangirl/boy, Fiend, Defender, Champion, and Queen/King. The higher your level, the more Super Snails you will get. This is the only time to get Super Snails and these snails are used to re-roll power ups on your gear. You can see I left off on Egg Champion and I was quite close to being an Egg Queen.
And that is where I ended my night. It was a good day filled with fun varying activities. I'm excited for tomorrow, March 10th, as if you did not know, is Mario Day. If you do not understand why, let me help you out. Mar. 10, MAR10. Get it now? Haha. Until next time.
